Sometimes we don’t know luck under our nose. LISTEN TO THIS STORY!
Last week I was working for a marketing company that does direct mail for car dealers. We send out 2-3,000 invitations to past customers inviting them to a special event about a car buy back with the opportunity to win $5000. If you think about it, the odds are pretty good. Despite the odds, we get from 10-50 people that take advantage of the opportunity. Buying five tickets would give you a five in 302 million chance of winning970 million Mega Millions jackpot, which are better odds than just buying one ticket, but you’re still far more likely to be struck by lightning.
YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE THIS! Something interesting happened on Saturday that still amazes me. It’s made me realize, if I want luck, I have to take advantage of luck that’s offered to me.
So at the Infinity dealership, a woman comes up to me and asks what’s going on. I explain it and she says, “I got a letter but it’s at home.” I suggest she take a picture of the winning number, go home, see if it matches. If it does I tell her it’s worth $5000.00. Of course you know what she says, “I don’t win anything, I’m not lucky.” Even after I tell her the odds, she isn’t convinced she should waste her time. She says she’s here to look at renewing her lease; I call Heather one of the salespeople and tell her that Cathy needs to talk about her lease and needs to go get her letter. Of course Heather tells her and Cathy goes home.
YOU KNOW HOW THIS IS GOING END RIGHT?
So we don’t hear from Cathy so Heather calls her.
Sure enough, Heather is yelling into the phone, “I’m the winner of the $5000, I can’t believe it! She comes running into the dealership, hollering about her luck!
Ok, here are the questions:
- What “luck” is under your nose that is too difficult to go after? Learn to believe in the signals your mind sends you.
- How often does self-doubt get in your way? “Good things never happen to me?”
- Even with people cheerleading you on, you refuse to take a chance?
- What have you wanted to do but refuse to do it because it’s seems like such a big risk? Try new things and uncover the magic!
- “I don’t want to look foolish, so why should I take a chance?” Focus on good luck, not bad.
“Is success right under your nose?”
What’s your story about luck, what do you need to do to increase your luck? You know how it goes, if you don’t buy a ticket you’ll never win~
*Somehow or other I see myself as lucky–with little evidence except in the 4th grade. There was an art contest sponsored by the school library. I had to do a drawing and never thought I had any talent. I spoke with the art teacher in school and asked if she would help me. I worked so hard, drawing after drawing, with lots of erasing! I won, my work was terrific for a 4th grader–my mother didn’t believe I was capable of such a beautiful picture–and I won!
LET’S FACE IT, YOU MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK!
